Yangtze River cruises

The four-night Chongqing to Yichang route through the Three Gorges is the flagship. Cabins range from basic to genuinely luxurious and the difference between ships is large, which is why we show you the exact vessel before you pay rather than describing a category.

We book balcony cabins as standard, arrange halal or no-pork dining where the ship can provide it, and handle the Chongqing and Yichang transfers on both ends. We will tell you honestly which ships can do halal for your dates and which cannot.

Li River cruises and bamboo rafts

The four-hour Guilin to Yangshuo cruise is the most beautiful half-day in China, and the boat class matters more than the ticket price suggests. We book the upper-deck four-star vessels with proper windows and open deck space; the cheaper boats are crowded and the views are through small windows.

Add a bamboo raft on the Yulong River for the more intimate version — 40 minutes on still water between the peaks.

Harbour and city cruises

Shanghai's Huangpu River night cruise runs between the Bund and Pudong and takes about 90 minutes. Hong Kong, China's Star Ferry crossing costs a few dollars and is arguably the best value sightseeing in Asia, while the Victoria Harbour evening sailings are the more comfortable option.

We book whichever suits and can pair a cruise with a dinner reservation on the waterfront.

Standalone ticketing

Cruise and boat tickets are available as standalone bookings with no tour package. Tell us the river, the dates and the number of passengers and we will send cabin options and prices in writing.

How our pricing works. We do not publish fixed prices, because a fixed price would either overcharge a couple or underdeliver for a group of nine. Every itinerary is quoted individually against your dates, hotel standard and group size, with everything itemised in writing. Send us your travel window and we will come back within 24 hours with a full quotation and no obligation.
Questions

Boat Cruise Tickets — frequently asked

Can we get halal meals on a Yangtze cruise?
It depends entirely on the ship. Several of the major vessels can arrange halal or no-pork menus with advance notice; others cannot. We will tell you honestly which ships can do it for your exact dates before you book, rather than promising it and failing on board.
Which cabin should we book on the Yangtze?
A balcony cabin. The scenery is the whole point and a cabin without a window defeats it. On better ships, the step up to deluxe is mostly deck level and cabin size rather than the quality of the view.
Are the cruises suitable for elderly or less mobile travellers?
The Yangtze cruise is the best option in China for limited mobility — you unpack once and the ship does the travelling. Shore excursions are optional, and skipping one loses you very little.
How far ahead should we book a Yangtze cruise?
Two to three months for peak season, especially April, May, September and October, and over Chinese public holidays. Outside those windows, four to six weeks is usually enough.
