How our pricing works. We do not publish fixed prices, because a fixed price would either overcharge a couple or underdeliver for a group of nine. Every itinerary is quoted individually against your dates, hotel standard and group size, with everything itemised in writing. Send us your travel window and we will come back within 24 hours with a full quotation and no obligation.

D1Arrive ChengduTransfer
Met at Tianfu or Shuangliu airport. Evening at Jinli Street or a Sichuan hotpot — halal versions exist and we will book one if you want it.
D2Giant Panda Base and Dujiangyan≈ 120 km
We arrive for the 07:30 opening, because pandas eat in the morning and sleep from about 11:00. Around 200 giant pandas across a wooded 100-hectare site, plus red pandas. Afternoon at the 2,200-year-old Dujiangyan irrigation system.
D3Leshan Giant Buddha and Chengdu teahouses≈ 160 km
The 71-metre Buddha carved into a river cliff in 803 AD, viewed from a boat on the river — the civilised option, and a far better photograph than the 217-step cliff staircase. Late afternoon at Heming Teahouse in People's Park, where Chengdu has been doing nothing gracefully for a century.
D4Wuhou Shrine and departureTransfer
Morning at the Three Kingdoms shrine and Jinli lanes, then your onward flight or the high-speed rail to Chongqing if you are continuing to the Yangtze cruise.
Who it suits

Is this the right route for you?

Families with children of any age, food-focused travellers, and anyone who wants a softer, greener China. The panda base is fully accessible; Leshan can be seen entirely from a boat if walking is difficult.

Questions

Frequently asked

What time should we see the pandas?
Opening time, 07:30. They eat in the morning and sleep from about 11:00, so an afternoon visit is a visit to a field of sleeping bears. We build the entire morning around being early, and we go to the smaller enclosures first while everyone else queues at the main one.
Is Sichuan food too spicy for us?
It is adjustable and we brief every restaurant we book. The signature of Sichuan cooking is actually ma la, a numbing sensation from Sichuan peppercorn rather than pure chilli, and many classic dishes are mild. Tell us your tolerance and we will order accordingly.
Can we combine this with the Yangtze cruise?
Yes, and it is one of our best combinations. Chengdu to Chongqing is 1.5 hours by high-speed rail, and the cruise runs four nights downriver to Yichang. Pandas, then four days without packing.
How much does the tour cost?
Every itinerary is quoted individually based on your dates, hotel standard and group size. Send us your details and we will send a written quotation within 24 hours.
